How to effectively pitch your business ideas to investors
Irrespective of what the purpose of your product is, you should be able to communicate your product aptly. This “pitch” along with being informative also needs to be exciting and interesting to listen to. One slipup and you might lose the listeners attention or shamble the pitch entirely. So, we’ll share a few tips that can help you to make pitch deck as perfect as it can be.
1. State answers to these questions
Your pitch deck needs to be precise which means you need to focus on only the essentials.
To be effective with this strategy you need to answer these questions: “What do you do?” and “Why are you the best at it?”. Throughout the presentation keep in mind that any thought that doesn’t add up to the above questions it’s always better to keep that thought aside.
2. There’s always more to it than you assume
When you listen to the well-known speakers in the world, you’ll realise that it’s not just about what they’re saying but also about how they deliver it. Things like body language, voice modulation, inflection, emphasis, and passion all play a very crucial role in successfully delivering a speech. When you incorporate these points into your presentation, you’ll not only be able to keep your listener hooked but you’ll also be able to get your message across which is going to stay with them for a while.
3. Improvising is the key!
As important as it is to keep the points memorized that are to be spoken about it is also important to make a lasting impact on the listener. You can personalize by adding in brief nuggets of information that creates a connection with the listener which in turn results into stronger connections.
4. Practice. Practice. Practice.
Practice until you become perfect. You want to be able to deliver pitch-perfectly even when you’re half asleep. Just kidding. But you get the gist, you should be able to answer in a second to questions like “what do you do?” or “how can you help us?”. The best way to get a hang of this is by practising with someone else. It may sound silly, but you need to prepare yourself to speak correctly. Practice with proper body language, eye contact, voice modulation etc. When someone’s watching you doing this, you’ll receive feedback which can help you to improve your weak aspects.
5. Ask them a question
A pitch isn’t just about you. It is also about how you can best serve the person you’re talking to whether it’s through product or service you’re selling. When your pitch deck ends you need not be standing there in silence. You can ease up a bit by initiating conversation with a question. This will get the listener talking which will allow you to tailor rest of your conversation to what they’re talking about.
